Gregor Samsa is an American post-rock band based in Richmond, Virginia.
They formed in 2001, and to date have released one album, 55:12 (2006), which was released The Kora Records in the USA and onOwn
Records in Europe. Other releases have included two EPs, Gregor Samsa (2002), and 27:36 (2003), both on Iodine Recordings.Split recordings
with Red Sparrowes and The Silent Type have also contributed a great deal to their reputation.
The band's sound is produced largely with a relatively straightforward setup of guitar, bass and drums, but additional parts are playedby strings,
organs, and vocals, both male and female.
The band's name is taken from the central character in the novel The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka.
