Chris Michalis, also known as Chris Mike, is a professional session guitar player from Greece. Born on May 3, 1985, he grew up in a suburban town of Athens nearby the sea. In the early years of his life, his dream was to become a professional tennis player. Chris Michalis, also known as Chris Mike, is a professional session guitar player from Greece. Born on May 3, 1985, he grew up in a suburban town of Athens nearby the sea. In the early years of his life, his dream was to become a professional tennis player. He used to spend most of his time between training at the court, on a daily basis, and participating in tournaments throughout the year. His tennis career came quickly to an end, when, at the age of 13, his father put his first guitar on his lap and showed him just three single chords. A new dream had been born and Chris started practicing for hours. He took classical guitar lessons and tried to further develop and improve his technique. Some of his influences include Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Steve Vai, John Petrucci and Guthrie Govan. By the end of his high school years, he had gained almost all of the music degrees, including Music Theory and Analysis, History and Theory of Musical Styles and Music composition. He also took guitar lessons with Theodore Ziras and Takis Barberis and studied jazz theory at Nakas Conservatory of Athens, as well.
At the end of 2003, Chris entered Parthian Shot, a progressive metal band, where he still not only holds the lead guitar player position, but also acts as the main composer and producer of the band. In 2005, Parthian Shot released a demo, followed, in late 2012, by the Parthian Shot EP, a very promising attempt receiving outstanding reviews all over the world. In 2005, he joined God.Fear.None, a melodic death metal band, where he became the lead guitar player, composer and co-producer. From 2005 to 2010, God.Fear.None released three full-length albums, performing plenty of concerts, some of them as support acts to notable European and American metal bands.Since 2006, Chris has worked as a session musician in several bands, including the “Stavros Tou Notou house band”, and for some famous Greek artists, such as Thanos Petrelis, Kaiti Garbi, Konstantinos Thalassohoris, Efstathia, Evridiki and many more providing his services in the albums recordings and also at the live performances. From 2009 until today, he performs around 100 concerts a year and tours all over Greece including North American and Australian tours during the years 2010-2011.
Chris is currently dividing his time between composing and recording the new Parthian Shot full-length album and performing with the singer Evridiki. Moreover, he is completing his business administration studies at the American College of Greece. With his only weapon in hand, his guitar, Chris tries to express his deepest thoughts, feelings and concerns, hoping to never end his journey. He says that: “Each chord and melody is a life experience turned into music, using my only ongoing vehicle of expression, the guitar”.
With this in mind, during the year 2013, he will release his first solo guitar extravaganza album, named "Not just lipstick on a pig".
