Atrocity are a German band from Ludwigsburg. Initially formed as a thrash/death metal band in 1985 under the name Instigator, they renamed in 1988 as they shifted to a more pure death metal sound. Their first two studio albums are considered early and remarkable examples of technical death metal, as well as a unique approach to the genre in general.
