Andrew James Weatherall (6 April 1963 – 17 February 2020) was an English producer, musician, DJ and remixer. Born in Windsor, Berkshire, he eventually moved to London and by the late 80s he was a regular DJ at Danny Rampling's nightclub Shoom, which ended up becoming a cornerstone of the acid house movement in the UK. It was there that he met later trance superstar Paul Oakenfold and collaborated on a remix for Happy Mondays. In the following years Weatherall continued to gain recognition for remixing music by acts such as New Order, My Bloody Valentine, Bjork, The Orb and The Future Sound of London. In the early 90s he started producing his own music, first in collaboration with The Aloof members Jagz Kooner and Gary Burns under the collective name The Sabres of Paradise, then later in collaboration with Keith Tenniswood under the project name Two Lone Swordsmen, with much of the resulting material being released on Warp Records. In 2009 Weatherall also started releasing music under his own name. As a record producer, he is best known for his work on Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Beth Orton's Trailer Park, Fuck Buttons' Tarot Sport and The Twilight Sad's No One Can Ever Know. Weatherall also reportedly helped sign The Chemical Brothers to Junior Boy's Own Recordings in 1993, being one of the first DJs who played the duo's first single Song of the Siren. On February 17th 2020, aged 56, Andrew Weatherall passed away from a pulmonary embolism. « hide
