One of the first Krautrock bands, Amon Duul II were a major part of the development of the genre, and are sometimes creditedwith
inventingspacerock. Originally members of a politically motivated art collective named Amon Duul, the members of AmonDuul II split from the
groupamidstdisagreements regarding politics. They eclipsed Amon Duul I - the band formed by theirformer colleagues - in both critical acclaim
andcommercialsuccess, and are now regarded as figureheads of German rock.
