Always and Never was formed in September 2006, It’s a group consisting of six 16-17 year olds playing screamo. They’re currently not signed to any record label. Within a day after releasing their EP which has demonstrated that the band has a more or less unique sound on their MySpace they had over 1000 plays. They come from Harrow, a suburb in north-west of London, were they have grown up in middle class suburban families. They are all sincerely dedicated to their music. It started out as a hobby they were young, they wanted to learn how to play an instrument, and as they grew up they got more serious and now they want to quit school and job to pursue the dream of being able to do play music as their full time job. After recording the EP Please…Don’t Be A Star in the middle of April they’re currently taking a break since the GCSEs are the top priority, henceforth, as soon as the summer holiday comes around they will continue gigging and promote themselves as much as possible. Their current goal is to get into the mainstream music industry by 2008. So far they’ve only recorded 3 songs, but they plan of spending summer writing circa ten new ones, and hopefully saving enough money to cover the cost of an album for next year. They’ve only played two gigs so far, with crowds of no more than 300, one of which for charity which resulted in an article in a paper, but they’re hoping that gigging in the summer will get their band established and catch the interest of a record label. The EP contains three songs, all of which are written by the band but they’re planning to maybe make a cover for their coming album. The band’s bass guitarist and songwriter Julian tells me that he has written some new material, which is about more serious matters, it won’t change their music but it’ll give more feeling to the words. He also informs me that they have made a DVD, which is coming out soon, of them recording the EP. When I ask how well they fit into the genre of screamo he says that they’ve got everything you need, the screams of all sorts, their screamer Ryan can do high pitched, low, death metal, girly types of screams, and that in their coming songs there will be a lot more screaming since he and another band member is currently learning how to scream. « hide
