| 3.5 great | c0nf1n3d | August 6th 24 | Quietdrive has never prided themselves on being master musicians by any extent, more they're very capable of building very effective songs that are executed well. Here's an album that's strictly cover songs that all in some way do justice to the original songs, yet as the title of the album suggests, it's their "spin". From the start, the best song is featured with the cover of Toto's "Africa", yet it also gives you a good idea of what you're in for. "Carry on Wayward Son" and "Uprising" don't have ripping solos, yet still capture the feel of the songs they're tributing. An ingenious play is covering "Say Say Say", which doesn't actually feature a chorus...so they instead decided to add one to keep the song fresh, and it oddly does pair with the rest of the material there. Take a note from the band's actual name and take a 'quiet drive' and listen to this album start to finish. There's enough here to warrant a listen.
