Without Mel, it is hard enough to swallow this as GFR. Bands must change and grow, Mel left, but ultimately the '80s were not kind to GFR. Like The Who, GFR could not make a successful transition to a changing cultural scene. This recording has elements of GFR with a nod toward Hall and Oates. Dull is the best word to describe "What's Funk?"
