The album begins with a techno track called "Into the Tunnel", it is a typical atmospheric thundering. I think it okay then, nowadays metal bands often use that kind of style to open their album. In next four-tracks, the album sounded a bit thrashy, but then I realized it just my first impression. Actually "Age of Versus", "Under the Scars", "Through the Shine", and "House of Greed" were warmly dynamic, moreover pretty fair for us to call them progressive and groovy. Their enormous double-bass drumming and cool melodic guitar riffs where their two guitarists switched each other to grab main role made
Venomous got its own flavors. In the middle of the album, there is a track called "This Coldest Heart". This one is something like “breaking news” after we trance in headbanging, and then try to forget for a moment the past tracks with all of their harsh sound, and then enjoy a beautiful and amazing acoustic instrumental. Though vocal part was not so growl, I think it's fair enough if we called it "singing growl” or whatsoever!
After that we jump into "For Victory" and "My Worst Enemy" - the tracks with a melodic and groovy sound. In "My Worst Enemy", in about a minute before it ends, we'll find something like track-outro with a jazzy style. The next track, "Only The Strong", is an epic dynamic rhythms with a solid drums beats. For the last one, "An Elegy", actually this is a bonus track (or maybe a hidden track). According to guitarist Eben, the track is a tribute to their past lead vocalist Ivan Scumbag who passed away in 2006. This 13s-minutes track is a solid closing because their fans know that Ivan Scumbag would be always their hero due to his time and legacy in Burgerkill in more than a decade.
Within a decade and half developing their sounds and their regional fan-based, I think Burgerkill deserves a wider listener; a global listener where heavy metal lovers can open their eyes and realize that heavy metal is every where in each corner of the world. Just like Sepultura which came from Brazil with their concerned on socio-cultural themes, maybe Burgerkill can follow their step or just taking spirit from their success effort. And the last words from me about this album; whatever is that, let yourself listen and judge this album, and I myself accepted their most recent 'venomous' work.*
