Rock Kills Kid is a California grown rock band revolving around front-man Jeff Tucker. Tucker began Rock Kills Kid in the latter of the 90’s with bassist Kirk Huffman and drummer Chris Poulson. The band recorded a self-titled demo and landed a record deal with Fearless Records in the year 2000. By 2003, the band had completely changed. The new lineup includes bassist Shawn Dailey, keyboardist Reed Calhoun, drummer Ian Hendrickson, and guitarist Sean Stopnik. The album was released in May of 2006.
Tracks:
1. Paralyzed (3:04) – Starts out kind of slow with the lone guitar riff and then you hear Tucker and a soft base drum. It then begins to pick up and it turns into a pretty good song. My only problem with it is that I think the chorus is repeated too often. One of my favorites from the album. 8/10

2. Hide Away (4:01) – Softer song that starts out with a little bass and again picks up a little during the chorus, but soon returns to normal during verses. Not the best of the album, but still pretty decent. 6.5/10

3. Midnight (3:34) – Very good song. One of the best of the album. Tucker adds a nice amount of synth and bass in the intro along with the catchy guitar riffs to create a masterpiece. Lyrically, it seems that Tucker looks back at his life and his self imposed isolation. 9/10

4. Are You Nervous? (3:15) – Title track of the album. Probably the best lyrical song on the album. Not much use of interludes or instrument alone sections, but the entire song is basically lyrics. 7.5/10

5. Back to Life (4:32) – Song apparently wrote about Tucker’s life and his release from his isolation. I don’t know I read that in an article somewhere. It would make sense I suppose. Again, this song is mostly lyrical. I think the chorus in this song is overly repeated too. 7.5 /10

6. Life’s a Bitch (3:58) – Pretty catchy song as well. Not near the best on the album. There is a lot of synth. It seems like the same riff is played over and over. 6/10

7. Run Like Hell (3:59) – My personal favorite off the album. The intro makes it feel like the music is moving from ear to ear, then you hear the guitars and bass come in and it’s pretty cool. The chorus is great lyrically. Tucker created a masterpiece. 10/10

8. Don’t Want to Stay (3:18) – Another very good song on the album. Starts out with the main guitar riff and leads right into the vocals. The lyrics in this one are great but again, I feel like the chorus is over repeated. 8.5/10

9. I Need You (4:09) – More of an upbeat type of song especially in the beginning with some cool bass lines throughout. Not much in this song lyrically. Just the few short verses and the choral ‘I need you, don’t let me down’ which sounds really cool. 8.5/10

10. Raise Your Hands (4:03) – Another upbeat song a little faster than the previous. Another song mostly made up of lyrics, but the lyrics are pretty good and it seems to fit well with the background music. There is some cool bass parts in this song too. Good way to end the album. 8/10

This was my first review. What did you think? Its cool to say it sucked if it did haha.

This review is pretty bare and could use some more detail, but it isn't too bad for a first.

And may I ask who was braindead enough to put this in Post Rock? I've heard some of this band's stuff and unless I've heard the wrong songs, this is most definitly not Post Rock.

it should be post punk, he must've just gotten the two mixed up.

See first comment for the answer to that question.

The single off this was pretty alright. Sort of bland, if you ask me though.
