Highly promising, but needs significant refinement. The Algorithm's blending of dubstep and djent is highly unprecedented. However, neither the dubstep programming nor the djent riffing are anything but ordinary for their respective genres. Additionally, the blend is a bit too dubstep-heavy in my opinion. Track 2 (Isometry) shows the best blend of the genres on the EP, featuring both greater extremes (both dance breaks and heavy breakdowns appear) and a more even mix of influences in the rest of the bits. Finally, I feel that it's essential that live drummer Mike Malyan be utilized on disc in future recordings. The programmed drums are serviceable but highly inorganic and tend to reduce the djent feel of the music. This music is highly unique and has a lot of potential, but some modifications and refinements are necessary for The Algorithm to take the place of a true hybrid rather than djent-influenced dubstep.
