In a year where many larger name releases left me wanting more, Icon:Koru blow away the competition easily. Taking a decidedly harder approach the album steps into quasi-aggrotech territory through both beat and vocal style. Other tracks recall the beauty of Assemblage 23/VNV Nation and are tastefully done; [:SITD:] have released a contender for industrial album of the year.

Icon:Koru is harsher, faster, and just plain damn heavier than what you may be expecting. That's not to say this is a totally different [:SITD:] you'll be hearing, because all of those typical things they do in their music are still there but let's be frank: [:SITD:] was always a little more brutal than their contemporaries anyway. Let's just say [:SITD:] has been spending a lot more time at the gym and that Icon:Koru is what they see in the mirror every time they flex.
