Before you listen to this record, gaze at the cover for a bit. In the foreground, a car holding a single skeleton lies slightly in front of a gigantic pile of skulls. Behind these skulls, a van with the passenger door ajar. Behind all of this, a city is ravaged by a nuclear explosion. The most expedient and accurate description of the album is on the cover - it's like listening to a nuclear blast for twelve minutes with no companionship but the bones of the deceased. Now that you've committed this grim portrait to memory, buckle yourself into the passenger seat of the car in front of you. Make sure you're buckled in tight - it's going to be an intense ride. Push play. The titular track is fairly bold for a grindcore release - the pace is slow, and the drum fills that litter the piece are very unorthodox. Most of the track is drawn out sludgy chords.

Napalm Death's Caught In A Dream, Insect Warfare showcase a stunning display of forward-thinking extreme music. The guitar tone is perfect; distorted enough to get that beautiful buzzsaw brutality but clear enough to hear the riffs presented. Insect Warfare plays very tight, and the drums keep it all together, with technical snare and tom fills, and, yes, blast beats out the wazoo. Simply put, Evolved into Obliteration is some of Insect Warfare's best work.

The above quote from eighteen second anti-cop epic Street Sweeper is probably the best representation of Insect Warfare's ethos. Insect Warfare is truly one of the best modern grindcore bands and this EP is a superb showing of the band's best traits - mostly the killer riffs present in almost every song. If you survive the atomic holocaust, get this record by whatever means possible.
