Review Summary: Paul Bunyan approved beard metal.

Welcome to the Brodeo.....What is the Brodeo you ask? It is a small, swampwater town located on the east coast of Central Florida. Here you will find trashy girls, jacked up trucks, camouflage, fluent alcoholism, and the occasional parcel of drugs floating close to shore. In short, it's a hillbilly hangout where massive quantities of Steel Reserve are consumed and babies are unintentionally born. Hailing from this sassy patch of earth is a pretty cool metalcore band entitled History Of Monsters. They have a demo to their name called "Brodeo" and if you like Lynrnd Skynrd, breakdowns and/or beating women in a drunken state then this will be your new favorite band.

Musically, History of Monsters is a metalcore band, incorporating the juns as well as screamed vocals and the heavy guitar tone commonly found in the genre. In addition there is a hefty southern influence which can be felt in the groovy riffs, snarling yells and hot dogging attitude of this young bearded quartet. Think Maylene And The Sons of Disaster with bigger balls, bigger riffs and bigger beards. Where as Maylene dropped off the man scale and started putting out third rate pussified cock rockers, History Of Monsters is fierce, catchy as can be and musically talented to boot. The songwriting displays a simple approach. Enjoy it or get the *** out. This isn't original by any means but History Of Monsters play with so much passion and swagger that it's highly unnecessary. There are four tracks on here covering twelve minutes of playing time. In those twelve minutes they punch you in the brown and then buy you a beer afterwards. It's pit starting music for people who want to go balls out.

Brodeo is a collection of hard rocking jams that should appeal to anyone who appreciates a good riff. The riffs man...the riffs. "This Is My Broomstick" opens the E.P with a heavy bro-down of junz before erupting into whats i like to call sweet, sweet riffmaking. The guitars are like Mjolnir, first they strike you down with it's magical properties then they riverdance all over your broken body. Steve.O is a riffgician skilled in the craft of riffing. Watch out yo. The inclusion of breakdowns is tasteful and provides added aggression to an already pissed off sound. Vocals alternate between harsh screams and a cleaner form of snarling that DJ performs with the poise of a bearded man. Gang vocals make their presence known on a few occasions as well. Cursing is present which makes them that much manlier than Maylene and The Sons of Disaster. It's refreshing to say at the least. It's hard to get my drank on knowing a band that im jamming to are devout christ-core followers but thankfully H.O.M can drop a F bomb like a boss. Rhythm section is rocking hard courtesy of Kitchwa and Richie. Following the lead of Steve.O and DJ, Kitchwa blows a hole through the mountain with beer can smashing power meanwhile Richie is doling out some catchy bass lines in the back.

The production is pretty swell, which isn't something I generally critique on most bands or records. History of Monsters are rousing to an extent that just listening to them on speakers is enough to incite a mass riot. Unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to catch this band live despite the fact that well....they play plenty of shows in my old town of Vero. I shall avenge my incompetence one day and go balls out in the pit to this band but first I will enjoy a sexy turkey dinner at Bono's complete with Brunswick stew and iced tea. With all this said I am forcefully telling you to go out and mediafire the *** out of this ep. You are guaranteed to enjoy it as long as you aren't some butt sniffing elitist jerkoff.

This isn't really junz based which is it's biggest strength. The riffs and vocals carry it, and the authentic rock n roll attitude elevates them over their shtty peers.
