An upgrade in production, vocal prowess (via a lot of autotune) and a much larger focus on dance-orientated club bangers has lead to most of the rocky, edgier side of Derulo perishing, but it's not a sacrifice in vain. Cheesy samples aside, a good portion of these songs are as sleek, sexy and finely-combed as most of Chris Brown's output. But despite these inevitable comparisons, Derulo is his own man and this feels much more like an album than its rather inconsistent predecessor.
