Review Summary: Best release of 2011

So yeah, it's kind of hard to top an EP like Penis Metal, am I right? Of course I am right, I know metal. Metal is in my blood and bones. I work with the steel like a blacksmith. The chaff gets burned away and the real metal is left. After burning away the chaff what was left was a pile of filthy bestial blackened war metal that is evil enough to destroy your damn soul in one listen, I sh!t you not metal brethren. This beast will rip you in half, drink your blood, and piss on your corpse. There is absolutely no mercy for the weak here. Posers will be annihilated, women will cry, and babies will be sacrificed in the name of Satan.

There isn't a boring moment on this album. No filler here, folks, this demon slays and slays and ssslaaaysss. For the Diabolical Ages will bend you over and have its way with you from start to finish. Take 1 part Pleasure to Kill, 1 part Blood Upon the Altar, and 1 part I.N.R.I. and you have this monster. This is your final warning: don't listen to this unless you have a big nutsack. This is *HARMFUL* metal - no kids allowed! Listen to shoegaze black metal before you spin this demon or you are going to be fvcking destroyed.

HAIL SATANAS!

this is all an oxymoron considering the person writing it

you've given some relatively excellent records 5 star ratings in the past (e.g. Brutality) but this is pretty average. so much better black/thrash to be heard before this. though I love the cover and admittedly did dig this for a while, but it got boring rather quickly

I didn't neg, you know your shit but you write like a 10 year old hitting puberty...maybe I should hit the neg?

For the record, I only hit the neg when a review is provoking on a childish level. I think you know the reaction you're going to get.

pioneering band for the genre

blasphemy, conqueror, revenge, corpse molestation, bestial warlust, if that's what you are talking about

Archgoat are one of my favourites, very simplistic but enjoyable. Essentially they're fodder but I can't help liking them. All of their material is worth hearing.

These are some non-essential greats: Blasphemophagher, Morbosidad, Nocturnal Blood, Prosanctus Inferi, Teitanblood, Fallen Christ, Grave Miasma, Diocletian (earlier stuff), Manticore.

You should definitely listen to Angelcorpse if you haven't, they're a must-listen. You'd probably also dig Abominator, another Australian band - I've only heard their '95 demo (which is great), but from what I've read the rest of their material is not bad, just a little cleaner.

Thanks for that tidbit of knowledge on a sub-genre I know little about. Gonna check out some of those bands.

No worries K. Check out the ones Valerius mentioned too, they're essential. Plus the first three are Canadian.

Also PM your postal address on RYM, I've got some stuff to send you ;)

no worries

but dude, Angelcorpse are not just okay, I would strongly recommend you listen to them again. listen to Exterminate or the Inexorable. no one can claim to like metal but think Angelcorpse is okay
