The orchestra often times sounds like regular wishy washy OST stuff that you can easily find in
any soundtrack to any action movie in the 90s making it feel generic in small spots, but on the
other hand, the inclusion of the sax which is far less bluesy and grounded than Coleman's work
usually is (Even on his free jazz records), the inclusion of a drummer who follows jazz patterns
very closely (Contrasting the highly symphonic academic orchestration) and the extremely erratic
compositions all make up for it, to the point that "generic" is often times the very last word you
could ever think of when it comes to this record. Very scatterbrained, difficult to wrap your mind
around with just one or two listens, but patience son, there's some very interesting and
emotionally impactful (!) stuff going on here, give it time. Great record.
