This album finds Big Bad Voodoo Daddy mixing vintage swing with vintage rock, resulting in a driving, catchy album with a darker feel countered and complimented by elements of black comedy in the lyrics and a playful snarl tinging the vocal delivery. The musicianship is solid, and, while not highly technical, each musician delivers a memorable performance. The vocals lack range and at times are closer to talking than singing. However, this compliments the sinister bar-room feel, and the vocals add a lot to the album's atmosphere. This is a solid, energetic release that can appeal to fans of jazz, rock, and even metal alike.
