3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | August 24th 17 | As we know him today, :wumpscut: is (or was, as he's called it quits just months ago) one of the leaders in aggrotech and dark electro, but as with most leading men he had some humble beginnings. Small Chambermusicians is his sophomore effort, and a work that features songs from his old days completely exclusive to the record (in opposition to Defcon, which was all released on a couple of compilations later on). The songs are based more in dark ambient and dark electro than anything, with no vocals besides the strange samples to be heard. It's very lo-fi, but some of the tracks, especially "Neolithic Heartbeat", have an undeniably human quality to them which contrasts with plenty of his cold, nihilistic work later on. It's certainly not anywhere near his best works, but anyone who's a fan of the man or a fan of dark electro should definitely check this out, as it represents the formative years of one of the subgenres most enthralling members.
