First of all, no; this isn't the same "An Epitaph For The Proud" which revealed a hungry young band called 2nd Suicide to the world back in 2006. Or rather, it is half of it. Coming about as the result of a contest win, "Epitaph 2008" features re-recordings of arguably the group's two best songs (although one does miss "Oblivion") and cleverly strays from material from the uninspired "Last of Kin". The benefit of a better production really helps "Epitaph For The Proud"'s qualities shine through, bringing out the song's rock'n'roll attitude in full. Conversely, however, "Garden of Stone" loses a little of its original personality with the re-recording, sounding a tad more generic than the original take., However, and despite the lack of any original material, this is still a recommended download for fans of the group and of melodeath in general.
