Welcome to the world of Honchie. This cd marks Honchie's debut of their offbrand comedy rock, and general wit. If you enjoy a nice relaxing musical experiance, with a good laugh to boot, then this cd is NOT for you. However, if you enjoy a mix of country/rock rhythms, swaying synth lines, massive drum beats, random comical humour, and 4 guys dressed as rabbits in the sleeve, then this cd is definately for you.

Release: 2003, independant

With this review, I plan to take you on a brief overview of what makes Honchie, well, Honchie.

Funny = Good?

I shall start with commenting that if you can't laugh at things like monkey midgets, asspants, cleptomaniacs, and other random assorted things, then you need to leave now, because you will not like this cd. The members of Honchie are a bunch of laid back guys who love to have fun, and know how to write a catchy line or two.

Lyrical Geniuses?

The lyrics you hear aren't the most complex, or deep lyrics you will ever hear, but they arent supposed to be. With lyrics like "Met a little girl, she was sweet as pie, she was a real fine looker, was the apple of my eye, but I had to let her go and I'll tell you why" leading into the next line as heavy as Honchie gets, "the bitch stole my liquor" (the title of the song, if you didn't notice), you begin to hear a pattern of starts and stops that make Honchie what they are, funny.

Negatives, if any?

In my honest oppinion, I haven't found anything I didn't like in this cd. It was put together with care, and every track compliments the band as a whole.

Should I go out and buy it though?

No. I repeat, do not go out and buy this immediately. I have to say, even for those that like comedy, there will be a few who find jokes about nascar where they draw the line. If you have a friend with it, borrow it then. Or go to their myspace (Shameless Fan Plug), and hear the full tracks available (Monkey Midget, The Bitch Stole My Liquor, Mofo, and a live cut of Lemme See (a song not on the cd).

Best Tracks and Final Score

Everyone has a favourite track or 2 on any cd right? well here are mine (including track number):

01. Bitch Stole My Liquor
02. Monkey Midget
05. Mullet Man
10. Starflight 2000
11. Mofo
15. Asspants

My final score for this cd is 5 out of 5. I feel this cd is a classic, and deserves a space on anyones shelf, even if it just sits there collecting dust.

And just remember, when you go to buy this cd, or see Honchie live, you have to wear your asspants, even if you hide them below a pair of sweats or jeans.

I feel like something just happened, but I don't know what. Confused.

You tell us not to go out and buy it, but then claim we need this album on our shelves.

Am I missing something?

The end result is almost like some kind of anti-review, in that we somehow end up knowing less than we did before. Fascinating. Sputnik's best reviewologists should study this strange inversion of natural laws to determine whether it poses a danger to our universe.
