Review Summary: How I love the summer.

Ahh, the summer, my most favourite season. When it's summer, I prefer listening to music that sounds sunny and fresh. In my taste of music, that usually means reggae and ska. And could it be more awesome when a band combines these two musical styles to make an even more sunnier record? I guess not. The Ohrbooten are a Reggae/Ska/Hip-Hop band from Germany and Spieltrieb is their first album. To analyze this album, I will split the music up in two criteria: Vocals + Lyrics and Music.

Vocals + Lyrics:
The lyrics range from religion (Ich glaube), capitalism (Eurose), love (Müde Krieger, Junge Dame), environmental messages (Stadtkind, Maschine) and politics (Politix) to wanderlust (Autobahn, Und Tschüss!). They are very well written and the singer has a very nice flow. Sometimes the rest of the band joins in to create some gangvocals which sound very cool and add to the overall summer-feeling. I think I'll give this a
4/5

Music:
Like I said before, the music sounds very sunny and the whole record feels like a really cool party. The drummer comes out of the metal and knows exactly which beat he has to play, the keyboarder adds a very nice touch to the songs like the egyptian feel on Stadtkind or the crazy keyboard on Eurose. At last, the guitarist plays more ska-like and has with a few exceptions (Und Tschüss, Dschungelpartei) almost the same job as the drummer. All in all this gets a
4/5

In general the Ohrbooten made a very sunny album with a few almost unrecognisable flaws. If you like reggae, ska or hip-hop, you should definitely check these guys out. This album really brings the summer back.

Recommended Tracks:

An alle Ladies
Autobahn
Und Tschüss!
Junge Dame

Also, this is my first review, so I guess you get the deal. Constructive criticism is always welcome.

The organization is very awkward I must say.

Yeah, I know. I was thinking about a way this review could look kinda nice, but when I look at it now I must say that I screwed it up. A lot.

Edited the review a little. Now it should be easier to look at it without getting eye cancer.
