Review Summary: Currently still impressed.
First things first: this album goes hard. Every band member sniffed the cult candle of creativity to produce this blistering, anger filled heavy metal. In terms of genres, it’s a mix as per music. Thanks to incredibly nuanced instrumentation, the album brings forth deep shades of colours. Such loose type of freethinking jamming (unleashed!) strikes me as similar to the band Candiria, if you can believe it. That said, this album is a wee more metal.
Notice growls that could mutilate your mommy’s ears; such growls, indeed, that would befit any genre of choice. Shout out to the drummer whose mad, cave filling beats rival Danny Carey’s obsession with tom fills. Are there blast-beats though? Yes, next question. Purists may cringe at a lack of riffs with the so-typical-it’s-a-stereotype slab chunks of the electric, but metal this is, with legitimately engaging and surprising riffs and doodlies. End game complete, and I am refreshed. You could come back to this album at any time and find something you missed previously, and of course enjoy it. This formula could open a mosh pit in a church. All that’s left is to enter the magical portal, after which you will be murdered. Fair thee well.
