first few seconds of the album are promising. next couple tracks pass by without leaving much of an impression. album picks up towards the middle. a bit too much straight up chromaticism; a very trite device here. kills a few songs. Also very recognisable rhythmic patterns are overused on multiple songs. may move up to 3.5

Relative to the genre of brutal death metal, this is quite a piece of work. It's pretty difficult to not feel pumped listening to this album. The riffs are fairly varied and chaotic without becoming entirely incoherent. All of the instruments (and the vocals) fit together rather nicely, especially with the drumming raising the intensity to another level. However, the guitar production feels like it should be ballsier, leaving something to be desired. If you like BDM, don't pass this one up.

the reason i have this album rated so high is A. this is an excellent brutal death metal album, and the expanded on their sound a bit since the last one. B. i love the sci-fi vibes that i get from the lyrics, the song names, and of course the album art. C. it's hard to live up to the last album, which was indeed excellent as well- but these guys pulled off the sound even moreso.
i have to disagree with the few seconds sounding promising- it just seems like they were about to go into some stupid wankery fest like many of the death metal bands do nowadays. this band isn't about that, it's meant to be brutal and pretty straightforward. if you want something like those first few seconds, then i would probably skip brutal death metal in general and head over to a more melo-death type of style. too many people expect that stupid over the top technicality nowadays that it just makes the music completely bland and unoriginal.
sorry if i bashed on you, it just seems like all these progfags listen for wank like its a good thing, when it just makes the music seem retarded and not as flourished as just straight brutal riffs. again, you can rate the album how you like- just understand that not everything needs to have some dumb wank to make it interesting.
i do agree that the albums second half is excellent though.
