A five-part opera composed by Zorn in 1998, though it lacks most characteristics of an opera (characters, plot, etc.) Instead, it's a highly atonal, abstract piece that in a highly postmodern manner leaves, well, pretty much everything up to the listener. In typical Zorn fashion, this is nowhere near easy listening ("III"), but the performances are sensational-- particularly Heather Gardner's wordless, glossolalia vocals-- and the production is excellent. At under half an hour, it's too short, though.
