| 2.0 poor | metalprofiteer | September 4th 26 | This was extremely disappointing after their magnum opus Watching People. Nothing here for me worth replaying. The flow and consistency is all over the place. Nothing memorable. Not crazy or catchy riffs. No intensity. This is their softest record to date.
edit: the screams/cleans are 50/50 on this album I'll admit. However, all previous albums were ~80/20, or higher (irrational pull was 90% screams) so the screams and cleans are now co-equal, but I'd wager that's not the sweet spot for most listeners.

| 2.0 poor | iamSeraph | September 6th 26 | Glad someone likes it, honestly. I personally did not find it enjoyable at all, unfortunately. It sounds like they swapped every single band member between now and their last record. The production has changed drastically, the melodies are totally different, heck, even the cleans sound like they are being sung by someone else. Also there is no mainstream appeal or catchiness at all anymore. It feels like they deliberately wanted the record to feel incohesive, just to be creative, artsy-fartsy, and nonconformist at all costs. You CAN do that, for sure, but then the songs still have to be compelling. And the only remotely catchy one with good breakdowns left is Phoenix Dies. The rest is a moody, inconsistent, dissident mess full of conceited but coequally weak songs like for instance Collateral. Tl;dr: Imho, From A Distance is a hot mess.

| 3.5 great | Ferretmusic | September 6th 26 | More introspection and vulnerablity. More ambience and cleans. Gym bros be pissed.

| 0.0 | derkaderka | September 6th 26 | I don't know what album MetalProfiteer is listening to, but I hear plenty of screaming on the album. It's probably closer to a 50/50 or 60/40 screaming/clean split. This basically just feels like People Watching 2.0, which certainly isn't a bad thing.

| 3.0 good | Numali | September 4th 26 | Good record for a rainy day, couch, window, that's it. I call it couch core. Don't come expecting crazy technical guitar riffs, this is about vibe and ambiance, not chops. Borderline good at best IMO.

| 3.0 good | anarchistfish | September 7th 26 | Not quite as heavy as their last album. A lot more singing and not quite as aggressive or groovy
instrumentally. Some good stuff but I think they're still at their best when they're heavy and
screaming in songs like Collateral but even then it doesn't quite hit like People Watching.
Last year's single Our Parting Ways, which does not feature here, would have been the best song
with clean singing here funnily enough.

| 4.0 excellent | charlie15 | September 6th 26 | This is an excellent release. Could even be a 4. Not sure what some people on here are listening to. Maybe give it a few more spins.
