At the time this was released, this was a self-titled EP. End Of A Year was, also at the time, pound-for-pound, the best EP Self Defense Family had released. All three of these songs are pretty good, and they get progressively better each one. The riff-centric, lively-paced "Gray Morrow" is an early classic in the band's discography, and the huge, riffy closer "Walter M. Miller Jr." is definitely of note as well. Opener "Robert E. Howard" shows Patrick Kindlon's vocal range effortlessly, and the production throughout the EP gives the music a strong, confident feel. Good stuff, as if it'd be anything but.
