I guess in terms of comparing recent Goldfinger albums, "Nine Lives" isn't as strong as "The Knife" and does things both better and worse than "Never Look Back". For the record, all three of these are very much great albums and each carry their own special kind of flair. "The Knife" goes back and forth between upbeat rock to ska//slower tempo pieces, "Never Look Back" repeats this concept but contains some silly tracks that clash with the vibe of the album, and now "Nine Days" edges on more of the rock/pop-punk sound over ska//slower tempo, but has much more memorable pieces. In fact, the real only 'joke song' here is 'John Lennon', and somehow it's quite the catchy tune. 'Chasing Amy', 'Last One Standing', 'Lie in Bed', 'Killswitch', and 'The Punisher' all should make it into anyone's Goldfinger song rotation. If there's anything that would've made this album stronger, it would be to feature vocals more from the other members of the band, as well as having some slower-tempo pieces. Then it'd probably eclipse "Never Look Back", but alas it kind of again matches it overall.
