I feel like this album stole 40 minutes of my life, all for a single track I actually enjoyed:
The Undertow #5. Everything else is completely forgettable. There's so much better music out
there in this genre that it's hard to justify spending time on this one.

You can just say it's meh because it is. they should've went with literally any other japanese vocalist, but this band is nothing now. no point to give this a chance, it's straight dook.

On the surface, "The Weight of Sound" seems like an impressive metalcore record. However, it's important to note that this is an album by Crystal Lake. This band used to be far more unique than what is presented on this album. All of that came to a beautiful culmination on their previous record, "Helix".rYes, it was heavy, yes it had riffs, but it also had a genuine heart to it. Many of the songs contained melodies packed with emotion. Complimented by exquisite cinematic ambience. The record felt like something more than your average metalcore record. It felt more grandiose and emotional.rWhile the Killswitch Engage influence is fine on "Sound", it's the first time this band has ever felt well and throughly "ordinary", to me personally. The influence contained is far too apparent. Hence making it intrinsically their least boundary pushing record to date.
