Very nice sections and melodies here, but it's a bit too much of everything. Production does not
help, it sounds like everything is fighting to be the spotlight. Giving these songs more room to
breathe, both music-wise and production-wise, would help these guys a ton.

It is absolutely mindboggling for me to grasp that Valiant Hearts is so under-the-radar in the post-hardcore scene whenever they flat out do it so much better than anyone else. I think this album shows them finding their strength in heavy, intensely creative melodies and hooks with the lyrical themes of escapism. It really nails what I think Yonder was lacking and that?s allowing each song to blossom and swell and grow instead of succumbing to repetition which ultimately plagued that album. The sound is very energetic and intense, but it still finds a way to be ethereal and transcendent. ?Breathless,? ?Elixir,? ?Heavensent,? and ?The Alchemist? all would rank somewhere in my favorite songs of the year list, especially the former. I?d honestly rank it in my top 5 of the year so far. And it?s kinda funny seeing as this is some nobody band that nobody has even heard of. Hopefully that changes soon. If not, they?ll continue to be my little secret, which honestly might be even better.
