Review Summary: Color me surprised.

Infectious Jelqing, one of the most notorious names in slam death metal. My first exposure to them was their Slam Shawtys split with Arseny. Naturally, they were far worse than their counterpart and much more annoying. They abused brainrot meme samples like a junkie does meth, and instrumentally had nothing to show. So I come into this EP with the same expectations, and wait they’re actually good?

That's right, they do a complete 180 with the titular DJ Smokey. Rate Your Music Diss Track has repetitive but creative riffs, actually funny jokes, and DJ Smokey there to pop in with one liners. But let's focus on IJ. For one, the guitar tone is sharp and not fighting through layers of mud. Vocals are much more well done, and the production is not too sterile. I still dislike the band for making genre tourists think all slam is meme slam, but they cleaned up their act.

DJ Smokey really helps elevate the band. If he’s not there with quips, he’s making real nice beats for things like interludes or breaks. Smokey is more in the background if he’s not doing one or both of those things. Of course, some of the jokes fall flat on their face (hear Dumb & Ignorant for more), and it does overstay its welcome at 23 minutes for an EP.

It’s kind of ironic that they joke “thank god it’s just an EP”, because i could not sit through more than 20 minutes of this. To be blunt, it's a well done novelty in a niche where releases/jokes are pumped out and forgotten. But it’s still meme slam. There’s much better bands to listen to, except in this case I would recommend a one time listen.

Not a 5 because the first track isn't called Sputnikmusic diss track.

Honestly, I liked this more than Them Young Wiggas, might be because of DJ Smokey's contributions. I get similar enjoyment out of this as with Lil B. Just silly fun music.
