| 3.0 good | Alabaster Jones | June 23rd 17 | Sometimes bands capture greatness in only one album in their discography, and that's totally fine, because some bands can't capture greatness at all. Here Comes The Kraken?s self-titled LP was a dizzyingly technical, expertly written deathcore that combined dynamic melodicism with angular dissonance and punishing/catchy breakdowns. The Omen loses some of that melodicism along with the nice production job on the debut that allowed you to hear everything going on. It's muddier this time around and while the energy is still very much there, the songwriting has taken a hit, with less dynamics and a bit more stagnancy. It's not bad, as the song ?Knights From Southside?, which could've easily fit on the debut, will show, but it's clear the band were capable of so much more.

| 3.5 great | ThePalestMexican | April 11th 10 | I have way too much bias for this band, that's a give in. The lyrics while have a nautical theme (which is a plus for me) can get pretty stupid at times, and the musicianship is as tight as deathcore gets. The production does seem worse then their LP, and the vocals suffer from this. However it's pretty enjoyable, but if you want better deathcore then this look at the band's LP, or a lot of other deathcore bands for that matter.

I personally felt that The Omen has a slightly more complex sound than their previous releases, which is a plus. If you have time, give it a quick listen.
