| 2.5 average | c0nf1n3d | September 2nd 25 | Preface: over 20 producers on this thing?!? Rating: In terms of recency, "Happiness Begins" hasn't aged too well for the Jonas Brothers, yet "The Album" strangely has. What at the time felt like an excuse to make nearly every song under 3 minutes to land on TikTok ended up still holding up thanks to the strange production choices that give it more of an edge over "Happiness Begins" and now "Greetings From Your Hometown". When the best song on the record is the first song ('I Can't Lose'), there's a problem. The Springsteen-inspired 'Love Me To Heaven', and the unapologetically-ripoff of the Bee Gees 'No Time To Talk' are memorable for how contrasted they are to other songs, and 'Loved You Better' and the title track are fine as well. Strangely the rest of the album feels more like B-sides to a nonexistent album, and the closer 'Slow Motion' released a year or so ago and feels more complimentary on the group's end to give a genuine release to that one. In the past 2 releases, it was suggested that the group could put out a certified-incredible album if they learn from their stumbles; unfortunately it feels as if they're more content with getting music out quicker to feed the algorithm.
