Review Summary: New Age nature-reveries for a healthier mindset

a pluck of the harp
and the undergrowth stirs —
two sounds of stillness

__________

each bird's song,
each brook's splash: to yearn
for their ageless weight!

__________

in the heart of the oak
a tinkling nest — who knows
how deep her roots

Takashi Kokubo is the man for this sound - this doesn't hit the highs of his 2023 collab with Andrea Esperti (though the t/t is lovely and comes close), but it's very compact without sacrificing anything in its impeccable sound design and holds up equally well on those terms. perf daydreams of ancient forests etc

Did you write these Haikus? I like them a lot.

yes and thanks! spun this album on repeat for a couple of hours until I had a few clear impressions to focus on and worked for there. not a 'review' style that would work for most albums, but it's another story for new age/ambient with a ton of environmental sounds

There once was a man named Johnnyofthewell,

On Sputnikmusic.com he was known to dwell,

New Age to him was such a potion,

He wrote a haiku of devotion,

Indeed his writing tended to be rather swell

Elegant Spiral is the easy favourite here, overall album has a very chill vibe and forest/pastoral feel, definitely good reading music but a little too background-y to really impress, but I like it.
