Review Summary: A new era?
Torsofuck is the epitome of the saying ‘two steps forward, one step back.’ With Postpartum Ecstasy, the two steps were the songwriting and the production, and the step back being the worse samples. Feasting on Carved Remains is baby steps in the right direction to the ideal Torsofuck album.
This EP does tackle the biggest issue with Torsofuck - the samples. Just removing them altogether feels nice, since it's clear that they don’t know how to do them properly. Another big plus is the new drummer, Miro Ferberg. Being the son of infamous vocalist Mikko Ferberg, its kind of wholesome that he’s playing in his dad’s band. That being said, he’s excellent. But the cost is the absolute dogshit production. It’s clear they wanted a raw production, but it goes past raw and ends up being terrible. The guitars are super drowned out, which makes it feel like its just vocals and drums.
Its lucky that Miro makes up for the guitars so much, or else this wouldn't really be worth listening to. Musically it feels like they’re going in a more goregrind direction, with the slam breakdowns feeling redundant with the nonexistent guitars. But it's only a 12 minute EP, and it’s certainly not for everyone.
They’re going in the right direction, so maybe the haters should give the band a bit more time to get a better production job. Otherwise I find it pretty enjoyable.
