Review Summary: Though it doesn't quite match the glory of the groundbreaking "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)," Oh Aaron is still a totally solid pop record, and should be listened to be anyone who calls themselves a fan of music.
Aaron Carter. When his name is spoken, many things come to mind: Off the hook partying, pre-teen angst, Shaquielle O' Neal.... but what about the music? Many might remember Aaron as a generic pop artist who relied on looks and hit singles to maintain any level of relevancy in the world of celebrities. Anyone who thinks that has obviously never listened through one of his records, as the sheer excellency is almost screaming out to you on your very first listen. After the release of his second record, Aaron's Party (Come Get It) Aaron had reached worldwide acclaim and had stolen the hearts of a nation (of 8 year olds, mostly) but was still a household name, nonetheless. The question remains, does his follow up continue Aaron's streak of good luck in the music industry? The answer is almost obvious......
1. Oh Aaron- The album starts out with the first single and title track, Oh Aaron. Featuring members of No Secrets, the song has verses rapped by Aaron and a menacingly catching chorus sung by a group of Spanish women. It tells the story of Aaron promising a ton of kids in his school tickets to the Backstreet Boys concert, and with his obvious relation to Nick Carter he thinks he can pull it off. It is a generally solid track, especially for a single. 4.5/5
2. Not Too Young, Not Too Old- This song is quite possibly the milestone of Carter's career, and some say he never even came close to matching anything such as this track. Featuring his older brother Nick, this song has extremely well written lyrics and a great concept behind that almost leaves one wondering for hours what it is truly about, and of course has a killer hook in the chorus. 5/5
3. Stride (Jump On The Fizzy)- Wow. This song is quite the disappointment, and really takes away from the flow of the album. Also featuring the girls from No Secrets, it is a total swing and miss, and it is a shame Carter even allowed such a weak track on the album. 2/5
4. Come Follow Me- Following up a weak track with a strong one, Come Follow Me is full of the aggression and energy you would expect from an Aaron Carter track. 4/5
5. I Would- A slow song written about how Aaron would do anything for a girl, really displaying his maturity as a songwriter as well as a lyricist. 5/5
6. Baby It's You- Aaron shows off his skill as a rapper as well of a singer in this track, and the lyrics in this one really blow me away every time I hear it. 4/5
7. I'm All About You- The ballad of the album, and a fantastic song at that. Such a sensitive, emotional track. I don't remember the last time I listened to it without crying. 5/5
8. The Kid In You- And another weak track on the album. It's as if he didn't even try on this one, truly a terrible song, ruining the mood set by the track before it all together. 1.5/5
9. Hey You- A solid, yet average track, but anything would sound good after the track before it. 3.5/5
10. Cowgirl (Lil' Mama)- Such a sex filled, provocative track, it really makes me want to go and dance with a hot babe every time I give it a listen. 5/5
11. Oh Aaron (Message to the Fans)-This is pretty much an advertisement, and a cheap plug. Aaron really disappointed me by even putting this one here. 1/5
Overall, Oh Aaron is a superb album, and leaves the listener with such a satisfying feeling after a listen of it. But with a few weak tracks here and there and a cheap plug at the end, the album is held back from being an all time classic. I give it a high 4.5/5
