Review Summary: Dai Allusion is a young American rapper rising among the ranks of his peers, emphasizing production quality over quantity and nostalgic white rap. Minimalist beats, mid-tempo flow, and intricate lyrics. FFO: Young Eminem and Sage Francis

Dai Allusion is a young American rapper rising among the ranks of his peers, emphasizing production quality over quantity and nostalgic white rap.

To this day he has produced two tracks full of phlegmatic sad wave raps, reminiscent of young Eminem and Sage Francis. There is a considerable improvement in songwriting and beats between Forever Alone and The Better Man – three years made an impact, giving Dai Allusion time to mature and finalize his style. Overall his approach can be defined with minimalist beats, mid-tempo flow, and intricate lyrics. Rapping is measured and emotional (pretty close to Slim Shady aesthetically).

Forever Alone starts with a kind of aggressive intro that sets the mood for the whole song. Dai Allusion spits cheeky bars, processing personal struggles and lack of love, feeling lost and lonely. As a young artist he manages to capture that angst and clearly channel it, making his first release an impressive start.

Returning with The Better Man, this time the rapper proves that he is indeed becoming better. And not only mentally, but also as a producer. His lyrics became more stingy, the beats – tougher, and the voice – deeper. Musically this track is in the division of the late 2000’s with it’s dramatic vibe and keyboards in the background.

Good to see new players in the game if they are like Dai Allusion – keep kicking.
