| 3.5 great | Bedex | April 10th 25 | I'm not unfazed, but I am not dazed either (lul). This is definitely tamer and a bit more electronically pop than its predecessor, but that's not really a problem. In fact, I really do enjoy when the sound gets very synthy, e.g. on 3 or even 5-6. But the vocals remain overly sleepy to make the whole sound explosive enough, I think. 1 sounds like Fazerdaze crossed with the Stardew Valley soundtrack and is quite cute. 3's my favourite in its best blend of the old and new sound. 6 reminded me a lot of Bilie Eilish and has a fun mysterious halloween vibe I guess. 7 is kinda weird but brings a welcome rupture. Nothing much else happens until the last two closing tracks. They turn to folkey ballads rather inexplicably, but not too disruptingly since the album was quite low energy anyways. I actually really enjoyed these tracks, which vaguely evoked the happy likes of Grouper and Sea Oleena in blending acoustic guitar and dreamy vocals. Most people will find them boring, but they were quite a nice surprise to me. 3.45

| 3.3 great | Erwann S. EMERITUS | November 15th 24 | Soft Power flirts with the very cool shi through its dreamy ideas, but it feels held back by its own restraint. The subdued approach makes for a mellow vibe, yet the songs rarely break free, leaving the record pleasant but just shy of impactful. There's a spark but no fire.
