The album is too happy to throw in absolutely generic tunes like they were water for survival. Which is a shame considering the adventurous lengths the album sometimes goes to instrumentally. It did a great job hooking me in at the start, only to fizzle out soon thereafter and rarely return to that explosiveness after. Doesn't help that Deal's vocal presence is quite unremarkable.

The greatest achievement of this album is it makes the new Pixies album sound better - this
is quite the snoozefest, vocals are frankly subpar. Zero energy or intrigue throughout.
