Tribulation's pivot towards outright goth rock is not really that surprising, as they were dipping their toes in the style ever so lightly before anyway. I find that the song-writing is generally decent, but the album feels and sounds as little more than "fuck it, let's just try the sound and see where it goes" more than a genuine artistic progression. Their previously strong personality is not quite there, their energy is not there, and even the production got clean to a fault, ironically losing a lot of what made it gothic in the first place. As far as generic goth music goes, not bad, if you ride or die for that sort of thing.
