3 ->3.5: I was a little less interested in this companion piece to the excellent $10 Cowboy; but after a second listen and vibing a little more, the songwriting resonated with me a lot on here than it initially did. The record still does not match the highs quite as well as the previous record, but the quality of his Dallas country and New Orleans based blues/soul strike at the heart with a quality unlike any other artist.
