Review Summary: Bon voyage

This is an album of acoustic renditions of their old songs. They are good. When this album was released, they also announced that the band was breaking up. Considering the AI art on the cover, they clearly wanted to focus attention on their music making, and the music hath been made. It won’t be made anymore, but at least we have received this parting gift, which reminds us that they have the capacity to make music, yet they refuse. An acoustic album is a great thing to release when you feel like your band is on its last legs, and in this case they actually announced it and cut off their ***ing legs. Good for them I guess? Definitely bad for us fans. They made it sound like an adventure, but I dunno man, the band itself had quite an interesting journey to begin with. However, these busy beavers will no longer be riffing hard. This album is a testament to that fact, and reminds with a sudden slap to the face as you might expect from these lads that mix disco with metal and always loved to give us the unexpected. Yet, sadly, new acoustic track variants of old recycled material is all we get. It’s certainly nothing like Korn playing in a special, live performance in a corn field which was simply iconic. Oh well.

This album is good, and any diehard or casual fan will enjoy the last final breath of this band, amidst chaotic AI art. I feel like the AI art is an ode to their goofy, no ***s given attitudes that fans generally resonated with. After all, it made for some very unique musical moments that many bands can’t even begin to compete with or duplicate. Say what you will about the AI art and how it’s thievery from actual human artists. It’s clear that the band are moving away from that whole shebang. They left us with this acoustic album as a farewell kiss and that’s all we’re getting. They made their statements, they made their music, they got some money, and they’re pulling their ship away before anyone can bitch about it. Is AI art thievery or inspired original art? This is a question left for later, because the band ghosted us, albeit with pretty acoustic guitars and soulful singing. They’ll forever have their skills, creativity, and unique playing, that’s for sure. Too bad they can’t bring it all together for further musical journeys. Peace out you crazy beaver-ish mother ***ers.

They could make music. But they won't.

Some of these tracks actually sound better as an acoustic song . If this is their last release as a band, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

I heard one of the members dove into the right-wing conspiracy bullshit nonsense swimming pool so they probably decided to just end it

lol it has nothing to do with it. Kin decided to retire right after the release of Vengeance to focus on his family. It seems there has been creative differences since the recording of Outlier as well.

@Calc I don't understand your answer so I will clarify what I meant. I meant that you were taking political sides with much condescension, as if it should be obvious that your opinion is the right one and while remaining very vague as for what that mysterious member might have believed that was so wrong.
Your comment could be summarized by "Right-wing conspiracy theories are so toxic and dumb that they ended that band you love so much."
Arbitrarily associating ideas with something negative in order to weaken them and bring people to dismiss them without even having to properly discuss them. That's a "ministry of truth" kind of approach.

Just gave this a proper listen and yes it is really, really good. Such a shame these dudes called it quits.
