| 3.5 great | Antonius | December 25th 24 | The Century of the Self finds Airbag letting go of their recent experimentations with electronics, returning back to a more familiar territory. The 10-minute opener 'Dysphoria' is the most appropriate track to unfold the soundscapes of the Nordic prog palette, while the 15 minutes of 'Tear It Down' exhibit the band's confidence to capture half of the album in two tracks. Whether its the mid-tempo 'Tyrants and Kings' with its captivating chorus or the melancholic tone of 'Awakening', the band's prog character remains intact. Midpoint track 'Erase' with its rudimental drumming and the vivid basslines has an aura of A Day at The Beach but without the synthesizers. On the downside, there are no new elements or experimentations here but rather a lot of borrowing from Porcupine Tree, Riverside and their favorites, Pink Floyd. Recommendations: "Tyrants and Kings", "Dysphoria"
