This is significantly worse than their debut. It is clear that the band is experimenting more with denser songwriting, however, I do not think they have the drumming, vocal, or riff variety/diversity to pull this off successfully. They did much more with less on their previous effort. Still, this album has quite a few strong tracks, like Season of the Savage or Shifting Sands. If Shifting Sands is supposed to be this lamentation on the passage of time, I would have liked to see a longer emotional guitar solo or something of the like toward the closing of the track. Those are my two cents for the moment.
