| 2.7 average | Erwann S. EMERITUS | August 26th 24 | Atavista is hella weird, as it functions as a properly mastered and mixed version of 2020's 3.15.20. That record's identity was basically one of pure rawness, with no cover art, song titles, or real production work - and it's been like that for so long that no one actually cared to see a polished version of that record. Atavista thus sits at a weird spot: it ain't a new full-length album, and it also erases its long-standing predecessors from its author's "official" discography. Musically, it's aight soul that's well-produced, but the songs in and of themselves weren't so great that they were in dire need of remastering/remixing. Was this whole record needed? Not really.
