Has that later-Mitski or Phoebe Bridgers or clairo type of singer-songwriter approach that always feels a little wrong to dismiss or dislike, what with its lyrical sincerity and emotional torment informing the bulk of the creative process. But it really is from among that lot, where the minimal musical variety (most notably into the territory of dark deserty grunge) just so slightly helps the album from drowning in its own indistinguishability.
