| 4.0 excellent | cjbizzlebizzle | October 4th 24 | On the surface some of the best, if not the best use of sax I have come across in a post-punk record and probably in punk in general. The sax joins the party immediately as the record starts and seems to join in here and there adding wonderful contrast and harmony to the deadpan vocals that permeate the tracks. Shoutouts to the wonderful bass tone, the effects used to make the guitars sound amazing and the rhythms that tie, or don't tie things together. Those rhythms add an underlying complexity to the songs architecture where most of the time things aren't obviously synced together when you isolate an instrument but they end up sounding great together as a whole. Beyond the opener, 'zig-zag', 'Concrete Lily', and 'Grief in Phantasia' are highlights. (Tour the USA!)

| 0.0 | didnt ask to be staff, was made staff anyway, then got demoted for not doing staff stuff | April 16th 24 | Two main takeaways here are that A: Drahla are getting more confident and skilled in their musicanship, and B: they are also starting to somewhat blend in with the Windmill/crank/art/slick punk trend nowadays. Now, I'll be among the first to lose my shit over any new album in that lane, but I also must recognise when that direction looms over an artist slightly.

| 4.5 superb | ajcollins15 | April 11th 24 | The sophomore effort from the UK-based post-punk ensemble takes a refreshingly traditional approach amidst the surge of crank wave bands seeking to redefine and innovate within the post-punk genre. "Angeltape" is a cacophonous and densely layered art punk record, distinguished by its prominent use of saxophone, which adds a classic touch to its sonic landscapes. The album presents a truly captivating and intense listening experience, with undertones of dance-punk adding to its allure. Each track feels like a chaotic dance rave set against the backdrop of a horror movie, with a relentless pace that sweeps the listener along without pause. For those seeking a challenging yet compelling musical journey, "Angeltape" is a must-listen, particularly as the spring season approaches.
