Review Summary: It's Ok.
Losing someone you love is hard. No matter how you slice it, you always end up with bread. Deep down there will be a hole that you are unable to fill. It’s sad, but also a part of life and a part of growing old.
Life is
really hard. For most, life is ***. The lucky ones have at least
one person they can count on.. If you do not you do now.
Ghost Chant makes me feel something that very few bands can conjure up. I say that whole heartedly as I put all of myself into the music I listen to and let it take me over. ‘Shapes in the Light’ the second EP Ghost Chant dropped consists of three powerful tracks that sum up what they
are.
Opening track ‘Weathered Skin’ is a Pop-punk infused Counterparts track that has a tasty little bass break which was nice to hear cause I am a
sucker for a nice bass line. This is about as heavy as the fellas will get here and it’s a nice mellow TIGHT metalcore sound. ‘Distance’ follows suit with a nice slow intro that breaks into a Silverstein love fest with some nice unclean vocals coming in, really stamping home every cliche’, that I love and haven’t felt this genuinely since I first spun ‘My Heroine’.
‘Framework’ is the track that really stopped me in my tracks on first listen. It’s a wrenching song about confronting loss. Showcasing some nice cleans that outclasses most Pop-Punk bands currently roaming the earth. The track is something and builds nicely. The words
really hit me for many reasons. Reasons, I will go over if you ever run into me for a beer.
I can get carried away with bands and songs that I connect with on some emotional level. I probably have here, but these three tracks just work so well and the words made me feel all sorts of
something.
