Review Summary: Ancient crunkcore from Hell.
I was deep in the anal cavity of MySpace as a kid. This was before I knew how to rap or really listened to rap. I completely forgot about this album, simply because the image of other crunkcore artists was much more memorable. Also, no one really talked about Lexii Raiinbow, because people were obsessed with Brokencyde. The rest is history, and Lexii never made it as big. Still, Lexii Raiinbow is an OG crunkcore artist that has never stopped making crunky music. It’s time to put respect on the name, a straight savage since MySpace.
Extremely basic crunkcore, and just as effective. There’s fat beats, thick bass, screams, and simple lyrics. “Bitch, you shop at Walmart” is a fun line, but “RAWWR XD bitch!!!” is a classic chorus. There’s goofing around for sure, but *** talking aplenty, and suicidal talk as well. We also got tough talk including talking about blowing off heads. Lexii wears her life on her sleeve, making her simple lyrics punch hard. Talk about slitting wrists is not easy to hear, but for those depressed souls who’ve been there, Lexii’s window into her soul is dark and completely open. It’s not glorifying the darkness, it’s exposing it to light.
Singing, screaming, and rapping: all of the crunkcore staples are here. It’s an old sounding album, but with nasty raps and dynamite bass, this *** will light a church on fire. In nowadays terms, this *** is fire. Back in MySpace days, this was crunk af. Now that trap metal is trending hard, it’s time to look at this album again. Sure, production is better these days, but if you can’t feel something after listening to this, you’re a robotic trend follower.
Hey There Emo Trash is very repetitive, and sounds straight outta MySpace. This album is for the real ones, maybe the nostalgic ones, and it shouldn’t be lost to the past like it is. In the midst of Rawrings20 it’s difficult to find real MySpace scene music considering all the scenecore artists suffocating the internets. Here’s some real Myspace stuff for you. Screamed raps isn’t for everyone, but if you’re ready to get slapped down, there’s plenty Lexii Raiinbow to go around. The album has a tough, bass blasting sound with equally tough lyrics, and it’s hip-hop af. Some may ignore the album due to the old quality production and Lexii sounding like a kid, but you know what? *** that. This is straight fire.
