Sometimes listening to music to be scared is pretty damn fun. Deliberately listening to something that you know is gonna freak you out on a personal level. But listening to something that you didn't EXPECT to leave you crying like a little girl is a different ballgame. When I went into
Nothing Will Belong to Us I was expecting an ambient/drone album solely based on the Bandcamp genre tags. Well let me tell you my friends...that does not do this album justice.
Mouth Wound is the solo project of Trine Paaschburg from Denmark and judging from this album, she is a pretty ***ed up individual. Yes her music is rooted in ambient and drone but it's so much more.
Nothing Will Belong to Us is possibly the most terrifying album I have ever heard in all my years of listening to music. The claustrophobic feeling you get from listening to this album is so intense you might want to turn it off. Trine's vocals (if you can call them that) are more like tortured screams of a woman who is begging for her life. Honestly they are like nails on a chalkboard. They're hard to listen to, as is most of this album. There are 0 upbeat moments on this album. It's despair from the moment you hit play.
This album is not for everyone and I can't even really tell you if it's "good" in the normal sense. Nothing about this woman is normal. There's so much static and reverb blaring from this thing you'll think there's something wrong with your headphones. If you're looking for easy, accesible listening, you've come to the wrong place. This is emotion in it's rawest and most vulnerable form. A whole life of pain and suffering put into one twisted album. The shrieks coming through all the white noise is like an apparition crying out "HELP ME" from another dimension. Describing the actual "music" here is difficult.
